Here's how a math trick that's commonly used in sports science to find "meaningful results" in small sample sizes is seriously flawed. Even so, it's widely used and the leading paper promoting the technique has more than 2500 citations. This is a fascinating article and gives us all a warning about using techniques like that and how they might not be as wonderful as you've heard. Best to use other techniques and use more than one at the same time.
